David N. Myers University is a private, not-for-profit university located in Cleveland,
Ohio. Myers University is a small university that offers a wide array of business programs, although it is no longer exclusively a business school. Myers is the oldest four-year college in the City of Cleveland. It was established in 1848, and has undergone several name changes. The mission of the university is to provide high quality and affordable education to the residents of Northeastern Ohio. Additionally, students can earn an array of degrees via Myers' accredited online course catalog. The most notable alumni of David N. Myers University is Cleveland native John D. Rockefeller, who attended the university when it was known as Folsom's Business College. After four years under this identity, the university merged with the Bryant and Stratton system in Cleveland, under which it remained until 1867. Myers University, at this time, took the name Union Business School to celebrate the Union's Civil War victory. From 1941-1994, the school was known as Dyke College. David N Myers, a Cleveland business leader and philanthropist, became the school's proprietor in the late twentieth century. |

On 10 December 2007, Myers University president Richard Scaldini announced that the
institution will close at the end of the Fall 2007semester. This move was stayed
by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge Daniel Gaul on Tuesday, 11 December.
Judge Gaul stated that he expected the university to remain in operation under
new leadership. Myers offers degrees at the Associate, Baccalaureate and Masters levels. The university is accredited by North Central Association-Higher Learning Commission and The International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). |
